Round

Sweet spot in the centre, easiest to control and the most forgiving on off-centre hits.

Teardrop

A middle ground: usable comfort with more punch than a round frame when you accelerate.

Diamond

Sweet spot near the tip for maximum power, at the cost of forgiveness and arm comfort.

Buying guide in short

  • Match the shape to your reliability of contact before you chase power.
  • Stay in the middle of the advertised weight range unless you have a reason not to.
  • A softer core protects your arm; a firmer core rewards a fast, clean swing.
  • Price mostly buys materials and finish, not automatically a better fit for you.

Frequently asked questions

Which padel racket shape should I choose?
Round rackets place the sweet spot in the centre and are the most forgiving. Teardrop shapes sit in between and suit most improving players. Hybrid shapes, which brands such as Bullpadel list separately, borrow the width of a teardrop and the tip mass of a diamond. Diamond shapes move the sweet spot towards the tip for more power, but demand a cleaner strike.
Is a heavier racket better?
Not automatically. A heavier frame adds stability and plough-through, but it is slower to swing and increases the load on your arm. Most players are best served in the middle of the advertised weight range.
How do you assess rackets?
Every fit score is an editorial assessment based on the documented shape, balance, construction and manufacturer specifications, not on laboratory measurement. Where a racket has not been played first-hand we say so on its page.
