Are Women’s Padel Rackets Different? A 100-Racket Comparison

A dated comparison of 100 adult models by weight, balance, materials and price.

Two green padel rackets with evenly spaced circular holes and dark wrapped handles.

Quick answer

Yes, but mainly in weight and the models brands choose to market to women. In PadelFormat’s 5 October 2026 catalogue, three rackets that Bullpadel officially classed in its women’s segment all weighed 350–360 g. The median weight midpoint across the other adult rackets was 365 g. Yet 20 non-women models were equally light or lighter, so the label is a shortcut, not a fit test.

TL;DR

  • We checked 104 live catalogue cards and removed four junior rackets, leaving 100 adult models.
  • Three current models met our strict test for a women’s racket: the manufacturer itself listed the product under “Segment: Women”. All three were hybrid rackets weighing 350–360 g.
  • Their median published weight midpoint was 355 g, 10 g below the 365 g median for the other adult rackets with known weights.
  • Twenty non-women models had a midpoint of 355 g or less. You do not need a women’s label to buy a light racket.
  • The three women’s models had a median current offer of €179.95. The other 92 priced adult models had a median of €176.98. With only three women’s models, that is not evidence of a women’s price premium.
  • Buy by total weight, balance, shape, face, core and how the racket moves in your hand. Colour and the letter W come later.

What did we compare?

We took a snapshot of the live PadelFormat racket catalogue on 5 October 2026. It contained 104 product cards. Four were junior rackets, so the adult comparison contains 100 cards.

For the women’s group, we used a narrow rule: the manufacturer had to identify the exact product as a women’s model. Three current catalogue products passed that test:

Bullpadel’s own product pages put all three in its women’s segment. A racket associated with a female professional did not enter this group unless the manufacturer also applied the women’s classification. That avoids turning a player endorsement or a colourway into a technical category.

We used the midpoint of each published weight range to compare models. For example, a 350–360 g range has a midpoint of 355 g. This is a calculation from stated specifications, not a measurement of an individual racket.

One catalogue error was corrected before the totals were calculated. NOX lists the 2026 AT10 Genius Ultra Light at 310–325 g, not 345–360 g. The correction did not change the median, but leaving it wrong would have made the raw data less useful.

Are women’s padel rackets lighter?

They were lighter in this sample. The three manufacturer-classed women’s models all had a 350–360 g range. Their midpoint of 355 g sat 10 g below the median for the other adult models.

That does not make 355 g a target for every woman. It also does not make a heavier racket a men’s racket in practical use. Twenty other adult models in the same catalogue had a published midpoint of 355 g or less. They included round, teardrop, hybrid and diamond options.

Weight alone also misses part of the handling question. In an experimental study of padel-racket manoeuvrability, researchers at the Universitat Politècnica de València measured 137 padel rackets and described manoeuvrability as a product of racket mass, centre of mass and mass distribution. Their test also used 50 players to compare the calculated index with perceived manoeuvrability. A 355 g racket with more mass towards the head can feel slower than another 355 g racket with more mass near the hand.

Use the listed grams to make a shortlist. Then compare balance and the complete playing setup, including protectors and extra overgrips.

Is the balance lower?

Not automatically. Bullpadel lists the Ionic Light with a medium balance. Wonder has an approximate balance point of 25.5 cm, while Elite W is about 25.8 cm. None of those figures proves that every women’s racket is head-light.

The matched examples show why the full specification matters:

Manufacturer specifications were checked against Bullpadel’s official pages for Elite W, Hack 04 Hybrid, Ionic Light and Ionic Power.

Elite W is lighter than the Hack comparison, yet its stated balance point is farther from the handle end. Ionic Light changes weight, balance and shape within the same family. “Women’s” does not translate into one balance rule.

Wonder has no direct male or unisex model-family counterpart in the current catalogue, so we did not invent one for the table.

Are the materials and dimensions different?

All three women’s models use a 38 mm profile and a mixed carbon and fibreglass face over a MultiEva core. Elite W and Wonder use Bullpadel’s Fibrix face. Ionic Light uses Glaphite, another carbon and fibreglass mix.

The wider adult catalogue contains carbon, fibreglass and mixed faces. The materials used in the women’s group are not exclusive to women. Ionic Power, for example, also uses Glaphite and MultiEva.

We could not make a reliable catalogue-wide comparison of face area, handle length or grip circumference. Those fields are not stored consistently. Bullpadel lists a 524 cm² playing surface for Elite W and 516 cm² for Wonder, but the Ionic Light page does not state a playing area. None of the three product pages gives a grip circumference.

Claims that women’s rackets always have smaller grips may be true for a particular model, but these sources do not support a general rule. Check the actual handle and grip rather than assuming the label settles it.

Do women’s rackets cost more?

We found no useful evidence of a price penalty. The women’s group had a median visible offer of €179.95. The other priced adult models had a median of €176.98, a difference of €2.97.

Three products are too few to establish a general premium. The offers also mix different model years, product tiers and discounts. The matched pairs point in both directions: Elite W cost €20 more than the older Hack 04 Hybrid offer, while Ionic Light cost €25 less than Ionic Power.

Treat price as a model comparison, not a verdict on the category. Our separate padel racket price analysis explains why materials, model year and retailer discounts need to be kept apart.

Does a woman need a women’s padel racket?

No. The label can lead you towards lighter options, but it does not know your strength, timing, current racket, preferred balance or playing style.

A practical shortlist starts with four questions:

  1. Can you prepare the racket comfortably on late defensive balls and quick volleys?
  2. Does the balance suit the shots you play most often?
  3. Do you prefer the response of fibreglass, carbon or a mixed face with the chosen core?
  4. What does the individual racket weigh after your normal grip and protector are fitted?

If you want recommendations rather than the data comparison, use our best padel rackets for women guide. It deliberately includes both women’s models and light adult rackets. The padel racket chooser is the faster route if you already know your level, handling preference and budget.

Frequently asked questions

Can a man use a women’s padel racket?
Yes. A women’s label does not change who can use the racket. The three women’s models in this comparison are ordinary adult padel rackets with lighter published weights. A man who prefers their weight, balance and response can use them.
Can a woman use a men’s or unisex padel racket?
Yes. Choose the model that fits your handling, contact and playing style. In this catalogue, 20 non-women adult models were as light as or lighter than the 355 g midpoint of the women’s group.
What weight are women’s padel rackets?
The three manufacturer-classed women’s models in this sample were all 350–360 g. That is a finding from this dated catalogue, not a universal recommended range.
Is a lighter padel racket always easier to move?
No. Lower mass can help, but balance and mass distribution also affect how heavy a racket feels during a swing. Compare the complete racket in your hand, not only the number on the product card.
