Padel Americano rules in short

An Americano is played as individuals, not as fixed pairs. You change partner every round, and the points you win stay with you personally. The aim is to give everyone as many different partners and opponents as the number of rounds allows, and to finish with one individual winner.

1. 1. Enter the players. Any number from four upwards. Names are only stored on your own device.
2. 2. Choose courts and time. The generator works out how many rounds fit and how long each round should be.
3. 3. Play to the round target. The default is 24 points per round; you can also run timed rounds with the built-in timer.
4. 4. Enter and confirm the scores. Scores are kept as drafts until you confirm the round, so nothing is lost by mistake.
5. 5. Read the standings. Totals update after every confirmed round and can be printed or exported as CSV.

Scoring, byes and tie-breakers

Every point won on court is added to your personal total. When the number of players is not a multiple of four, some players rest each round and receive a neutral points adjustment; the bye is not counted as a played match and does not change wins, losses or point difference. If two players finish level, the standings compare, in order:

What is Team Americano?

Team Americano keeps the two players of a pair together for the whole tournament. You enter teams instead of individuals, every team meets every other team, and the standings rank teams rather than players. It suits club nights where people arrive as pairs and want to play the evening with the partner they came with.

Standard Americano vs Team Americano

Standard Americano rotates partners so that everybody plays with as many different people as the round count allows, and one individual wins. Team Americano fixes the pairs: the schedule is a round robin between teams, nobody swaps partner, and one team wins. Both use the same scoring, timer, live scoreboard and exports.

How fixed-team scoring works

Scoring is identical to Standard Americano. In a 24-point match a 14–10 result gives the first team 14 points and the second team 10, and the two scores always add up to the match target. Points, wins, draws, losses, points conceded, difference and byes are all tracked for the team, not for the two players separately.

A team that rests receives the neutral rest credit — half the match target, or the round average in timed play. The rest never counts as a played match and never changes wins, points scored, points conceded or difference.

How many rounds fixed teams need

A complete round robin plays every team against every other team exactly once. With an even number of teams that takes team count − 1 rounds; with an odd number it takes team count rounds, because one team rests in each. The total number of matches is always teams × (teams − 1) ÷ 2, so four teams play three rounds and six matches, and five teams play five rounds and ten matches with four matches each.

If the time available or your chosen round count is shorter, the generator schedules the most balanced part of the rotation it can and tells you how many of the possible team match-ups are included. No match-up repeats until every match-up has been played.

What happens with an odd number of teams

One team rests each round, and the rest rotates so that no team sits out twice before every team has sat out once. A pair always rests together — a team is never split to fill a court — and the difference in matches played stays within one.

What is Mixed Americano?

Mixed Americano is an Americano with one extra rule: every pair on court is one player from each of two groups. You enter the players in two groups, the generator builds the whole schedule before play starts, and each player still scores and is ranked individually. Partners rotate exactly as they do in Standard Americano — they just always come from the other group.

Standard vs Team vs Mixed Americano

Standard Americano rotates partners with no restriction and ranks individuals. Team Americano fixes the pairs for the whole evening and ranks teams. Mixed Americano sits between the two: partners rotate every round, but never inside the same group, and the standings stay individual. All three share the same scoring, timer, live scoreboard, corrections and exports.

How Group A and Group B work

The two groups are called Group A and Group B until you rename them. You can call them Men and Women, Left-side and Right-side, Advanced and Developing, or anything else that fits your club night. There is a one-tap Men / Women preset, but no gender data is stored: the schedule only needs to know which of the two groups a player belongs to.

Every player belongs to exactly one group, the group is saved with the player rather than guessed from a name, and both groups must contain the same number of players — at least two each. If manual editing leaves the groups unequal, the generator says exactly how many players the smaller group is missing and will not build a schedule until it is fixed.

Does Mixed Americano have to use gender?

No. The rule is structural, not social: one player from each group in every pair. Mixed nights are the most common use, but the same format works for pairing stronger players with developing ones, left-side players with right-side players, or two visiting clubs with each other.

How many rounds does Mixed Americano need?

With an even number of players in each group and enough courts for everybody, the full rotation takes as many rounds as there are players in one group. Four players in each group, two courts and four rounds gives eight matches and all sixteen cross-group partnerships exactly once — every Group A player partners every Group B player one time. The schedule preview tells you how many of the possible partnerships are scheduled, and never claims a complete rotation the chosen plan cannot deliver.

If the time, rounds or courts available cannot fit the full rotation, the generator builds the most balanced part of it: matches played stay within one of each other, and no partnership repeats while an unused valid partnership is still available.

What happens when each group has an odd number of players?

One player from each group rests every round, so the field on court always has two players from each group. Rests rotate inside each group, nobody sits out twice before everyone in their group has sat out once, and consecutive rests are avoided where possible. Three players in each group on one court, for example, is three rounds where everyone plays twice and rests once with no repeated partnership. Americano or Mexicano?

Choose Americano when the priority is meeting as many different partners as possible and seeing the whole schedule from the start. Choose Mexicano when you want each round paired from the live standings, so the matches get closer as the evening goes on.

What is a padel Americano?

Do players need an account or an app?

No. The generator runs in the browser, saves the tournament on your own device, and spectators can follow the live scoreboard through a shared link or QR code.
